The hike up Grande Mountain is a beautiful day hike with an out-and-back trail covering approximately 10 km (6.2 miles) and an elevation gain of about 900 meters. Starting just north of Grande Cache at the cemetery, the trail begins with a steep climb along a powerline cut before transitioning into mixed terrain, including dirt paths and loose rock. Hikers should be prepared for a strenuous ascent, with trekking poles recommended for stability. The summit offers panoramic views of the town, surrounding peaks, and valleys, making the effort worthwhile. Best hiked between June and October, the trail can be windy and snowy outside this window, so proper gear and preparation are essential. Grande Mountain is rated Bronze as part of the Passport to the Peaks Program.
